Legalization of Marijuana
The legalization of marijuana is something that has beenargued for many years now but the government always declines it. I feel that marijuana should be legalized even though there are many reasons for marijuana not to be legalized I think it should belegalized for the following reasons: 1) If it is legalized it will bring money to the U.S. 2) Legalization will cut out drug dealers and 3) Marijuana being legal will probably keep teenagers fromdoing it.
Legalization will bring in much needed tax dollars, it will free up prisons it will cut out drug dealing, and it will save the U.S tons of money. If marijuana is legalize it can be taxed bythe federal government just like alcohol and cigarettes. If this is done, not only will the government save millions of dollars on searching for marijuana dealers. The government will make billionsof dollars off the sale of marijuana, which can be used for drug education programs to help educate the youth of America. In the United States, all levels of government (federal, state, and localauthorities) participate in the "War on Drugs.” According to The Report of the Task Force on Cannabis Regulation to the Center for the Study of Drug Policy, "marijuana is one of the largest tax-exemptindustries in the country today." Legalizing marijuana will allow our industries to grow and allow our government to make billions of dollars annually off the taxation of marijuana and hemp.
Marijuanabeing legal will cut out all of the drug dealing. Making it legal will be a way to stop crime and stop possession of marijuana. People that have drug dealed are locked up in prison and the taxpayershave to pay for them. We have to pay for food, housing, health care, attorney fees, court costs, and other expenses to lock these people up. To me that’s absurd! If you must know, it costs taxpayers...
