This article is based on a recent European decision about the communitarian freight transportation. Last October 19th, the Transportation European Parliamentary, Siim Kallas, presented theinfrastructure plan to develop in the next 20 years in the European Union. The EU countries had previous developed internal infrastructure plans and had brought them to the Transport European Commission, aimingto show why they were necessary for inclusion in the global plan. Spain proposed six rail routes for freight and high speed, and EU has included five of them in the overall plan. All the projectsapproved (10 in total) will be financed with EU funds. The amount funded will be between 10% and 40% depending on the importance of the projects. In this paper, the project explained is the MediterraneanProject (Corredor del Mediterraneo) that is essential for Europe.

What does exactly mean Corredor del Mediterraneo(CM)?
CM is a rail line that runs along 1,300 km of four regions: Catalunya,Valencia, Murcia and Andalucia. The expected investment is near 20 billion euros. This project is due to year 2020. At that year, connections with the major ports and with the logistics facilities willalso be completed in Iberian and International gauge. In addition, the corridor will connect Almeria, France and the rest

of Europe with passengers' high speed trains in international gauge throughthe spanish cities of Murcia, Alicante, Valencia, Castellon, Tarragona, Barcelona and Gerona.
Once the project is finished, CM will have a freight railway line and a high-speed passengers line. Thefreight railway line will connect all the ports and the logistic locations and will allow the running of trains up to 750 meters long.
