SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 1. RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing – Windsurfing Competition Rules (WCR). 1.2 No national authority prescription will apply. 1.3 If there is a conflict between the Notice of Race and these SailingInstructions the Sailing Instructions will take precedence. 1.4 If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will take precedence 2. NOTICES TO COMPETITORS Notices to competitors will be posted on the Official Notice Board located at the Race Office in the Monsaraz Centro Náutico. 3. CHANGES TO SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Any change to the sailing instructions will be posted on the Official NoticeBoard at least 60 minutes before the scheduled start of racing on the day that it takes effect, except that any change to the schedule of races will be posted before 20-00 hrs on the day before it will take effect. 4. SIGNALS MADE ASHORE 4.1 Signals made ashore will be displayed at the Official Flag Pole located at front of the CVLagos office. 4.2 When the AP Flag is displayed, ‘1 minute’ isreplaced with ‘not less than 20 minutes’. This changes WCR Race Signals. 4.3 When the B Flag is displayed (with two sound signals), boards shall not go afloat. The warning signal will be made not less than 20 minutes after B Flag is lowered (with one sound signal). 5. RACE SCHEDULE and FORMAT 5.1 The schedule, and format, of races will be as specified in the Notice of Race. 5.2 The warning signal forthe last race of each day shall not be made later than 18h00 and on the last day shall be no later than 16h00. 5.3 No more than 4 races per day shall be sailed. 5.4 When more than one race or sequence of races will be held on the same day, the warning signal for the first race shall be made at the stated time and for each succeeding race will be made as soon as practicable. After a longpostponement and/or to alert boards that a race or sequence of races will shortly begin, an Orange Flag will be displayed (with one sound) at least 4 minutes before a warning signal is displayed. No sound will be made when the Orange Flag is lowered. 6. CLASS FLAG The class flag will be: “W” FLAG 7. RACING AREA The racing area is shown in Attachment 1. The racing area is defined as an area extending 75mbeyond the course including the starting line, the finishing line and their extensions in

which a board would normally sail while racing. 8. COURSES The diagram in Attachment 2 shows the course to be sailed including the approximate angles between the legs, the order in which the marks areto be passed, and the side on which each mark is to be left. 9. MARKS 9.1 Marks of the course will be YELLOW buoys. 9.2 The starting marks will be the Race Committee Signal Boat at the starboard end and a YELLOWS buoy at the port end that is the 3 buoy of the course. 9.3 The finishing marks will be a Race Committee Boat and a spherical pink buoy. 10. THE START 10.1 Races will be started using WCR26.1 – System 1. 10.2 The starting line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on the Race Committee Signal Boat and the port end mark. 10.3 Boards whose warning signal has not been made shall avoid the starting area. 10.4 A board starting later than 4 minutes after her starting signal will be scored Did Not Start. This changes WCR A4 and A5. 10.5 When an individual recall has beensignaled, or a board breaks rule 30.3, the Race Committee will display the sail number(s) on a white board on the back of the Race Committee Signal Boat before the first board has finished that race. Failure to display the sail numbers(s) will not be grounds for redress. This changes WCR 62.1(a) and A5. 11. THE FINISH The finishing line will be between a staff displaying a blue flag on the Race...
