Montserrat Grases, a Fun-Loving Teenager

Suffering tends to be an awful word for everybody. When we think about suffering, maybe the first thing that comes to our mind is sadness, depression orsomething senseless. However, the life of Montserrat Grases is an example of a loving encounter with suffering. She managed to be happy even though she was dying in the prime of her youth.
Montserratwas born on July, 10th of 1941 in Barcelona, Spain. She grew up in a Christian family, with many brothers and sisters. Her mother was Manolita Garcia, and her father Manuel Grases. Montse was asnatural as everyone else. She never did anything strange. On the contrary, she used to play and laugh like kids her age.
As Montse was growing up, her parents taught her about God, along with Christianteachings, just like any Christian Family. She always trusted completely in her mother and father.
Sports were Montse´s favorite entertainment. She used to enjoy playing tennis in the evenings. Shealways had a lot of energy and used to go hiking whenever she could. She would also enjoy dancing Flamenco. People that knew Montse, remember her natural cheerfulness and simplicity.
In January of 1958,Montse began feeling pain in her left leg, but neither she nor her mother paid attention to it, thinking that it was just a little injury caused by those excursions in the mountains. She kept livingher life as if nothing had happened. However as time passed, the pain in her left leg became constant and uncomfortable.
That same year, her parents decided to take her to the doctor. After severalexams, Doctor Cañadell informed Manuel Grases that his daughter had irreversible bone cancer, Ewing´s disease.
When Manuel and Manolita Grases explained to Montse the nature of her illness, shereacted in a supernatural way and abandoned her life into God´s hands. She gave her life completely to God and accepted His will.
