Learning a language is very difficult thing to do. Whether it your native language or a foreign one. Language is a communication ofthoughts and feelings through a system of arbitrary signals, such as voice sounds, gestures, or written symbols. Teachers are trying to find different strategies or theoretical model to show students howto learn a language. As a future teacher, I designed a theoretical model. The name I gave my model is The Hot Balloon. I gave it that name because you need a lot of things to keep the balloon up justlike the fire does to a hot balloon. A theoretical model is an important tool for a teacher to have to help students develop the language that they are learning and so students will be able tocommunicate with others. Now I will explain a little bit of my model with examples and explanations.
My model is a mixture of all three School of Thought, but the one that most stands out is thebehaviorist because the way I learned language falls under there. Some ideas in my model I used are from B.F. Skinner's Operant conditioning (1957) where he stated that “getting a response can cause a stimulithat can be rewarded in a positive or negative way with reinforcement”. In my model, I can use that as the balloon that will lift us up in the sky. An other theorist I used n my favorite is Krashenwith his affective filter(1982) because I think without motivation you can't succeed as much as your capable of learning. I can use that as the flame that lifts the hot balloon up in the air. I knowwithout motivation I'm not capable of learning something new. As much as I want to my mind is not capable to interpret or memorize the information. My last theorist I used was David Ausubel (1964)...
