Divorce has ben surrounding our society for the past years. It has been shown that growing up is harderwhen a child's parents are divorced.Children of divorced parents display higher levels of depression and anxiety, lower self-esteem, and more frequent use of psychological services.Divorce isunquestionably a risk factor for psychological problems during childhood and into adulthood. To help children passing though these symptoms help can be provided by psychotherapists, divorce coaches, etc. Thefollowing five literature reviews demonstrate the opinion of various authors regarding the effects divorce has on children.
In an article by Portnoy, he has showed that a child can undergo manyphases while passing through divorce. In the article Portnoy displays the psychological problems a child may undergo. He gives a detailed explanation of the position the child portrays when the parents gothrough a divorce. Portnoy states that children of divorce are most likely to experience psychological difficulties than children from intact families, and those effects are likely to continue intoadulthood.
The following article “The Divided World of the Child” informs the reader about the consequences a child phases, and the long-term adjustment of the child. The article lets the reader knowthat divorce creates multiple adjustment issues for parents and children; they provide a report to the reader proving their theories.
