* The Indonesian archipelago was inhabited for two million years. the Austronesian, who constitute the majority of the modern population, migrated to Southeast Asia from the currentTaiwan. Around 2000 BC C., arrived in Indonesia and while expanding their territories, confined the native Melanesian to inhabit the eastern islands of the archipelago.
Indonesian cultureis the result of the mixing of different civilizations which have left important traces in architecture and sculpture in the country
The islands have also felt the influence ofPolynesian cultures and Southeast Asia, as well as Chinese and Dutch. The Arab influence began to be more important from the thirteenth century, especially through the teachings of Islam.
