My goals


In order to be successful in today’s world we should improve ourselves each day, and studying is one of the ways to make our dreams happen. Since I was a little girl my parentshave been telling me that my greatest treasure is my mind and my best friends the books. Their words have always inspired me although studying in this country is really hard because almost everybodymust work and study at the same time, but definitely this is the way that I found to become my dream of being a registered nurse true. Knowing who I am, my professional goals and my reasons for wantingto be a registered nurse can help you in your hard work of choosing the best student for the great nursing program at Nova Southeastern University.
First of all, I am from Cuba and I moved tothis country some years ago. In my country I was studying medicine, but I just completed three years of my career since I came to United States. I enrolled in a medical assistant course, and then Icompleted my six levels of English as second language, right after that I started the regular classes and I finished my Associate in Arts at Miami Dade College. Both of my parents are doctors, so I haveseen this profession in my house since my childhood, this could be the impulse of my love for the health field. Helping people and saving lives is one of the things that I enjoy the most, so that Ichose nursing as my major.
As I said before my parents often remind me of how difficult it is for minorities like us to earn respect from the community and enough money to raise a family. Theyencourage me to strive for the best by being selfish and competitive. Consequently, I have learned that whatever I do I must try to be the best, so my professional goals are to enroll in the nursingprogram at Nova Southeastern University, better my knowledge and gain skills to become a good nurse and this privilege gets my own spirit uplifted.
