THE SPECTACLED BEAR
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Tremarctos ornatus
The spectacled bear is South America's only bear species. It faces an uncertain future due to loss of habitat.The spectacled bear are small and dark, are characterized by being so heavy, by having five toes on each foot and a very small tail. In addition, almost all are omnivorousand nocturnal. They can see in the night perfectly. Spectacled bears have an omnivorous diet, although they are fairly specialized in fruit and different parts of several plants. They feed high up in trees aswell as on plants growing on the ground.It eats: Ericaceous, fruits, sirumba, wild cactus and cherimoya.
He can climb to the top of Palm tree thanks to their climbingskills. Sometimes leaves the forest to search for potatoes, corn and sugar cane, foods that he loves.
Habitat: spectacled bears are found in rainforest, there are forest withtall trees, warm climate and lots of rain.
