◦Much has been said and will be said about the
significance of April 5 in the history of Peru, particularly
in 1992 (as in 1879,Chile declared war on Peru), as it
meant the interruption of the democratic process.

el significado del 5 de abril en la
historia del Perú,particularmente
de 1992 (pues en 1879, Chile le
declaró la guerra al Perú), en lo
que significó la interrupción del
proceso democrático.

our rejectionand condemnation of the
installation of any government sustained by
force of arms or any real power, but also to
provoke some thoughts about why our
democracy has that fragility that has allowed
theemergence and enthronement of
dictatorial governments.
