Peruvians, are they friends or enemies?, that’s a tough question to answer … at this article we will see a little bit more about our Altiplanic brothers, their life in aforeign country, their activities, jobs and organization.

It’s clear to see that the life in a foreign country is tough and even more if your country and the one that you’re going to havehistorical issues such as The pacific war (1879 to 1883), but it seems that all those problems are forgotten when our “brothers” decide to cross the frontier to set out a new journey, many times with thepurpose of improve their economical situation. Peruvians come to Chile to develop different kind of jobs such as maids, construction workers, call centre operators, etcetera, and there’s when thetroubles begin, because those kind of jobs are very low paid and they end up living at shelters or at “Cités”.
One of the typical meeting places is “Plaza de Armas” on a side of “The MetropolitanCathedral”, there’s where some friendships or even romances begin, actually is right here where we can clearly see what brotherhood and sisterhood means, they usually help each other with jobs or a placeto sleep.
The Peruvian colony is one of the most organized colonies in Chile as we can see at the Internet, googling on the web i found from Facebook pages, blogs, forums, even sites fullydedicated to help out their fellow Peruvians such as “www.conpersantiago.cl”, this is the official site of the Peruvian consulate in Chile, I’ve been diving on this site and i found some interesting stuffsuch as different requirements and documentation to work in Chile, legal advice, etc.
Thanks to our brothers we could also know a small portion of their culture, their cuisine with so emblematicdishes as “Ceviche”, “Suspiro Limeño” or the controversial “Pisco Sour”.
