ESTRUCTURA DEL ENSAYO

When writing essays it’s very important to keep in mind the following structure to explain our ideas in an organized manner. The following is the suggested structure forformal writing:

I. ESSAY QUESTION: Sometimes the teacher will give you the essay question, and sometimes you will have to create one based on the assigned topic. The essay question must NOT beincluded in the essay it is just useful to guide our research and writing.
II. INTRODUCTION
- Thesis Statement / Main Idea: 1 or 2 sentences that answer the essay question clearly anddirectly. This sentence or sentences will state the main idea of the essay, it tells the reader what the main argument of the essay is.
- The introduction also has to include a description orexplanation of the concepts, events or people that you will be discussing throughout the essay.
- This section must also include the importance of talking about your topic.
III. BACKGROUND- This section must include a little history of the topic for the reader to understand the main point. This can also be an explanation of what was going on at the time of the event you arediscussing, a brief history of the character you are discussing, or previous information that has been found regarding your main point in case you are not discussing an event or character.
IV.BODY
- In this part you will explain in detail the thesis statement / main idea that you wrote at the beginning of the essay. It’s important to discuss ONLY ONE IDEA from your thesis PERPARAGRAPH so that it’s not confusing. It is also important to include examples or evidence for each of our ideas or arguments.
- If you are going to include something exactly as you found it in asource, you must cite the source at the bottom of the page using a footnote.

- The conclusion must be very strong so that the reader is left thinking about your main...
