OVERHEAD AIR DISTRIBUTION- MAINTENANCE PRACTICES 1. General A. The overhead air distribution isconsidered the routing and control of conditioned air, recirculated air and fresh air to the forward side of the aft pressure bulkhead. It is a network of overhead ducts that provides air to thepassenger and flight crew seat positions. Air supplied for the overhead air distribution originates from the conditioned/recirculated air thermoswitch controlled door assembly and the tailcone fresh/ramair ducting. Air outlets located at each passenger and flight crew position are operated from full open to full close position individually. Components involved in the overhead air distribution are thefresh/ram air ducting and check valve, the ventilation junction box, the baggage compartment smoke detector, overhead duct network and the overhead air outlets. NOTE: For maintenance of theventilation junction box and components, refer to Ventilation Junction Box - Maintenance Practices. 2. Overhead Air Distribution Component Removal/Installation NOTE: The airplanes equipped with Freon airconditioning system utilize the same air distribution system with a faster flow wemac outlet. A. Remove/Install Overhead Air Distribution Duct (Refer to Figure 201 or Figure 202). (1) Removal andinstallation of the overhead air ducts require removing and installing the cabin headliner/overhead console to gain access to the ducts. Refer to Chapter 25, Sidewall and Headliner - Maintenance Practices. Ductsegments are connected between and to air outlet adapters. (2) To remove a segment of the ducting, remove the tie strap at the applicable adapter-duct connections and remove duct segment. To installa segment of the ducting, position and insert the duct in the applicable adapters and secure with tie strap.
