J. Tolkien was born in 1892 in England. His father
died when he was 4 years old and his mother died
when he was 12 years old. Then he went tolive with
his cousin. His cousin was a priest.
Tolkien was interested in languages. He liked
ancient languages. He invented new languages and hewrote stories. In his stories he used those languages. He
read his stories to his children and to his friends’
children. They liked the stories, soTolkien wrote more
and more stories. He became a professor of Anglo Saxon at Oxford University. He wrote his first Lord of
the Rings book in 1954.Its name was “ The Fellowship
of the Ring”. Then Tolkien wrote the other books. They
were “The Two Towers” and “The Return of the King”.
