When we hear the word ‘prostitution’ we generally think of a street walker in the corner offering sexual acts for money, and that would be true, if a person agrees to performsome sexual act for you of someone else for something of value, the words alone may constitute the act of solicitation of prostitution, so, prostitution would be an agreement, otherwise, that wouldbe a crime.

Let’s not get confused prostitution with sex trafficking; “Sex trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or inwhich the person induced to perform such an act is under the age of 18 years” (National Human Trafficking Resource Center).

Prostitution is sexual practice or coitus performed with ends of lucre orby means of the payment of a price. It is known as the most ancient profession of the world; its origins are found in primitives societies where was a costume to offer the wife, daughter or the servantas a sign of gratitude.

In contemporary societies, prostitution by itself is not a crime, however, it is surrounded by crimes like conscription, living at the expense of persons whose prostitutionis performed and being the owner of a prostitution business.

Prostitution is a service that can be performed by men and woman, but it is commonly to see this kind of activity performed by woman.The most common way of prostitution is the street, which is performed usually in delimited areas of the cities, in the city center: public squares and central parks or old towns. The sexual act isperformed in cheap pensions near to the area, in the same parks or even in the car of the client.
