CRISIS STRIKES THE NOURISHING SECURITY OF CARIBBEAN REGION


It exists nourishing security when the people at anymoment have physical and economic access to sufficient innocuous and nutritious foods to satisfy their nutritional necessities and their preferences as far as foods in
order to take an active life and heals.
This, according to the world-wide summit on feeding (1996) .

The financial crisis and deceleration of the world-wide economy, are agravated the situation of insecurity in the world. Thegeneralized rise of the prices of foods, the reduction of the production
prognoses, the increase of unemployment, and their diciente effect, the perception of smaller income has brought like consequence a smaller access of the homes to foods and other basic goods.

To regional level, you go ahead tendientes actions to consolidate the Caribbean project “without hunger”, a regional agreement bythe nourishing and nutricional security of the region.
If these efforts obtain their objective, it would be working with a view to the improvement of the levels of necessary human well-being nutricional, that they result in a greater productivity, lower capacity of learning, expenses in the care of the health and the increase of the share capital of the region, vital for the development of theregion.





PRESIDENT URIBE URGES EXTENSION OF CAPITAL OF THE I..D.B.


The proposal was presented/displayed in the assembly that is celebrated in Medellín.
President Alvaro Uribe was urgent to him to the 48 governors of the Inter-American Development Bank to cause his capitalization. The agent chief executive maintains that it is the only alternative
that has the Region toconfront world-wide the economic crisis.

Colombia was urgent to him to the 48 governors of the Inter-American Development Bank (I.D.B.) who are reunited in assembly 50 in this city, to capitalize it because it is the only way
to manage to take care of the necessities of credit of the countries of the region to confront the economic crisis.
The request made president Alvaro Uribe Veléz in theofficial installation of the Annual Assembly.
