Radical Innovation at Nestlé
A Groundbreaking (and Practical) Approach
* Is it possible for mature corporations to create a process for developing radical innovations?
* How can a company encourage and nurture innovation among its regular employees?* How will Nestlé's approach to innovation become a model for other companies?
Nestlé USA is a mature company that has recognized the need to innovate. Not just moderate innovations that typically originate within existing business units, but radical innovations that would normally fail (or not start at all) within an existing structure.
Mature organizations have great difficulty copingwith radical innovation for a variety of reasons: It threatens the status quo, it requires active participation from multiple business units who see it as a risk and a distraction, or it fails the normal business and financial criteria that is appropriate for standard products and initiatives. Nestlé is no exception, so the CEO sponsored a ground-breaking approach to foster radical innovations thatwill fuel the growth of the business in the future.
In this program, we will discuss the design and implementation of the Nestlé innovation program. You will learn:
* How Nestlé creates an environment that encourages radical innovation
* Specific steps taken to separate radical innovation from moderate innovation, and provide a process optimized for the former
* How this programinterfaces to the mainstream businesses
