The stress response occurs in form of neuro-endocrine activity in which the brain acts like an orchestra conductor and directs a barrage of neural andendocrine hormones to target various organs of the body.

When you perceive a threat, your nervous system responds by releasing a flood of stress hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol.
Your heart pounds faster, muscles tighten, blood pressurerises, breath quickens, and your senses become sharper. These physical changes increase your strength and stamina, speed your reaction time, and enhance your focus – preparing you to either fight orflee from the danger at hand.


A stressed person gets easily distracted

While the effects of stress are usually viewed as harmful, there can also be some beneficialeffects of stress.

The stress response is the body’s way of protecting you. In emergency situations, stress can save your life – giving you extra strength to defend yourself,

1. Relax right where you are. Close your eyes and visualize yourself in a pleasant setting, perhaps standing on the beach watching a beautiful sunset
2. Take a break. Getsome exercise or fresh air, or go somewhere private and yell or cry.
3. Ask yourself whether it's worth being upset over the situation.
4. List all the things you think you need to do right away.5. Do it now. We all know how thinking about the work we have to do and doing it makes us ever so much more miserable than just doing the work.
6. Breathe. Deep breathing is extremely calming.
