Through the years, the world has seen several magnificent writers and one of the most prominent ones has always been William Shakespeare.

The contradictions between love and tragedy weredefinitely persistent characteristics of The Elizabethan Period and Theater that began when Elizabeth Tudor assumed the throne of England. During this period, William Shakespeare developed his career as aplaywright and writer as such. At that time, Shakespeare wrote a famous play named “Romeo and Juliet”. The creation of this masterpiece made him known all over the world.


Life and Work of WilliamShakespeare

William Shakespeare was born on April 23rd, 1564, in Stratford-on-Avon, during the reign of Elizabeth Tudor. His primary knowledge was not very vast. He did know much neither Latinnor Greek. He acquired a privileged culture from self- study and the analysis of books. He was also always surrounded by cultivated people who led their legacy to this prominent exponent of Literature.At the age of eighteen years old, he married Ana Hathaway, who gave him 5 sons. When he was twenty-two years old, he was then ready to leave his family and seek for fortune. Step by step, hewas captured by literature and theater. First, he devoted himself to copying and transforming already existent manuscripts. In 1950, he wrote new versions of “ La Comedia de las Equivocaciones” and “LaFierecilla Domada”.

In time, he was alighted with the gift of being a universal writer, famous for his tragedies. One of his most significant ones was “Romeo and Juliet”. The protagonists ofthis masterpiece were two innocent adolescents who lived a secret affair. Their families, the Capulet and Montesc were consumed by hatred. They were eternal rivals. So any Capulet could not see a Montescwithout initiating a fight and vice versa.
