Primary Stage Objectives

According with the Royal Decree 1513/2006 and Organic Law on Education 2/2006, the child should be enabled:

a) To Know and appreciate the values and norms ofco-existence, to learn to act according to these, to prepare oneself for the active practice of citizenship and to respect human rights and the pluralism of a democratic society.

b) To develop habits ofindividual and team-work, of effort and responsibility for studies as well as attitudes of self-confidence, critical sense, personal initiative, curiosity, interest and creativity in the learningprocess.

c) To acquire skills for the prevention and peaceful solution of conflicts, these skills will allow students to perform autonomously within the family unit, the domestic sphere and in the socialgroups they form part of.

d) To know, understand and respect different cultures, the differences between people, the equality between men’s and women’s rights and opportunities andnon-discrimination of disabled people.

e) To know and use the Spanish language appropriately (and the co-official language if there were), and to develop reading habits.

f) To acquire basic communicativecompetence in at least one foreign language. This competence will allow students to express and understand easy messages and to perform in everyday situations.

g) To develop basic mathematicalcompetences and initiate in problem solving tasks which require carrying out basic maths operations like calculation, geometrical knowledge and estimation as well as to be able to use them in everyday life.h) To know and appreciate the natural, cultural and social environments, their cultural heritage as well as to know how to take care of them.

i) To start to use ICT (Information and CommunicationTechniques) for learning developing critical thinking in view of the messages they receive and work out.
