I/ Definition of experience economy

The term Experience Economy appeared for the first time in an article published in 1998, written by B. Joseph Pine and James H. Gilmore.
They wrote: « Experiences represent an existing but previously unarticulated genre of economic output » (page ix)
According to them, the key for a growth in the future economy is to consider experience as a real economy.What we have to sell to the customer is Experience, something new and special for him.
« When a person buys an experience , he pays to spend time enjoying a series of memorable events that a company stages - as in a theoretical play – to engage him in a personal way. » (page 2)
In fact, with Experience Economy we do not talk about business, profits or marketing but we think in a more authenticway. We want to give the customer something new and something personal, he will remember.
Today Experience Economy become a priority in our consumer society where people are guided by their purchasing power and forget about enjoying things.
We have to teach the customer a different way to enjoy things and remember him the simple and natural things.
For instance, nature tourism is developingmore and more these years, because people want to return to authentic experience. Nature tourism is a good example of experience.
« Experiences have always been at the heart of entertainment, from plays and concerts to movies and TV shows .Over the past few decades, however, the number of entertainment options had explosed to encompass many, many new experiences. » (page 2)
« It doesn't mean thatexperience rely exclusively on entertainment; entertainment is only one aspect of an experience. » (page 3)
Global markets sell products and services. In tourism sector, those services have to represent experiences for the customer. The service has to be memorable, unique, special, made for him/her... The firms have to create a personal feeling to the tourist. As a consequence, the experience canrepresent a personal growth and development for the tourist because experience changes his/her life. Buying experiences and memories enrich the life more than just buy material things. Experiences are deeply personal to you and it is valuable to you and only you. You cannot compare your first concert experience for someone else’s first concert experience because we build memories and goodfeelings that stay with us for a lifetime.
In fact, when you customize an experience you change the individual. But, no one can force to change, change is made by the customer, companies can only guide them. Särkänniemi Park provides the entertainments; when the customer tries it he/her accepts to be changed after this memorable experience. We want to transform ourselves, become different and tell itto our friends.
There are different ways to have experiences:
- try an extreme sport
- go to a new place with your friends
- travel alone in a foreign country
- go to a restaurant where you eat in the dark

II/ Description of the product : Särkänniemi park
Särkänniemi adventure park is situated in Pirkanmaa region. Särkänniemi is an adventure park in Tampere,Finland. Tampereen Sarkanniemi was established in Tampere, Finland in 1966.
The mission of Sarkanniemi is to attract travelers to the Tampere area and to cost efficiently produce a package of thrills to its customers. Särkänniemi Park is owned by city of Tampere and was opened in 1975. In the first years of existence, the park has worked with rival park Linnanmaki. Some of the attractions of the parkwere even borrowed from Linnanmaki before Särkänniemi opened.
Särkänniemi was voted the most popular amusement park in Finland, so if you visit Tampere, the park is a place not to be missed especially in summer.
Särkänniemi Park in Tampere, the second largest city in Finland is a major tourist attraction of the city besides several others. The park receives over 1.5 million guests each year....
