Anorexia is one of many eating disorders that exist nowadays. This disorder is characterized by the privatization of food a person may have. Anorexia may be caused by many reasons, though only threeof them will be explain on this lecture.
One of the causes of anorexia is an alteration or distortion in the perception of our own body. People with anorexia see themselves as fat people. No matterhow thin people actually are, the perception of their body is distorted. The thing is they really perceive themselves as fat people. It´s not a matter of imagination or a simple thought, but a matterof an alteration on their sense-perception. People with this alteration may develop eating disorders like anorexia. The privatization of food has the purpose of losing weight. They do accomplish theirgoal with this actions; the problem is that the perception of them does not change. Therefore, they would continue taking this kind of actions.
Another cause of anorexia is an early traumaticexperience, which may have occurred during childhood or youth. This experience may also vary in many characteristics. An example of a traumatic experience of this kind may be obesity being the cause ofdeath of a relative; therefore, people relate death to obesity. Consequently, people may reject eating all or certain food; unconsciously, to avoid death. The idea stands that the significance of eatingfor each person or with what do people relate eating to. Then each person should explore how this relation affects eating habits or self perception. For the mean given by people to this action, wouldbe one of the causes they might do it.
A third cause is low self-stem. People with low self-stem do not value themselves. They cannot detect either emotional, intellectual or physical attributeswhatsoever. On the other hand, they tend to exaggerate their own defects or not wished characteristics. Also, they are highly affected by the comments of others, which in many cases are related to...
