The Huge Fish

Danube´s delta. I was surprised that the area had kept untouched, although being the mouth of a river that spans through ten different countries. It is an area formed by narrow canals and thousandsof islands with a lush vegetation. Hundreds of spices of birds can be seen everywhere and the rivers are infested with all kinds of fish.
At the end of June we flew to Barcelona and then to Bucharest.Four hours later we arrived in Băneasa airport. It was very small and it seemed to be quite old. The image of the airport made us think that the state of the country was worse than what my father haddescribed, who had been before, but after a tour through the city we discovered that all of our prejudgements were false. The history of the city is reflected in its buildings. The old neighborhoodof extravagant architectural character, which in the era gave to Bucharest the name of Paris of the East, give way to sober apartment blocks typical of the communist era. One of the things that mosthad impressed me is enormous amount of high-end cars that were in their streets.
The next day we began a journey of four hours, which would lead us to the city of Tulcea, where the river splits intothree branches, Sulina, Chilia and Sfântu Gheorghe, and two hours by boat, by the latter, to reach our final destination. Large stretches of grain crops make our way by road very monotonous and evenboring. The landscape changes dramatically in the section of ship. Through the channels became a spectacular experience and difficult to forget. The ducks dove when they heard the boat´s engine and thefishermen turned their heads. We stayed in a small and quiet hotel on a fishing village. Beside the village was a lake where a group of palicans swam in a relax way. The streets of sand were onlytraveled by two or three old jeeps, driven by the local guides.
