The Land Of The Charruas

THE LAND OF THE CHARRUAS Some years ago, a group of friends and I were looking for somewhere else than Brazil to spend summer. That's when the idea of visiting our neighboring country of Uruguay cameup. There were doubts about it since nobody knew much about it, but anyway, with no set plan, we decided to give it a try. What we found there was amazing. The first place we visited was a lovelyvillage called Aguas Dulces whose people were adorable. Mainly families enjoyed this village with its beaches and quiet crystal clear water, this is why it was a great option to forget about the routineand the hustle and the bustle of the city and thus, to get some rest and relaxation. Then, we went walking down the beach, enjoying, on one side, the pristine golden dunes decorated with some scarcebrownish vegetation and, on the other side, the vast Atlantic ocean with the incomparable sunrise which seemed to be painted with loose and short brush strokes in bright and warm colors. After about oftwo hours of strolling, we reached the village of Valizas. This time, tourists there were mostly young people in their twenties who were fascinated, as I was, by the hippie lifestyle that permeatedthe whole place as well as by the thin sand beach where you would like to stay forever enjoying some mates with friends. Nightlife there was absolutely worth the trip. I cannot forget to mention thatcaipirinhas and partying after the sunset are a must. After Valizas, we headed to one of the most gorgeous places I've ever imagined: Cabo Polonio. Visiting this utopian place was an adventure itself.The means to get there was in a sort of bus or truck with no roof that had a capacity for about 25 people. This bus traveled through the dunes, so you can picture that the trip was a wild one I wouldsay. After a while, we started approaching the scenario of the incredibly blue ocean which highly contrasted with the bright white sand that surrounded the few little huts that were settled there....
