The mysteries of the Maya
The Maya civilization is a Mesoamerican civilization, well known for the only acknowledged fully developed written language in America before Columbus arrived. Initially,they rose during the Pre-classic period; the Mayans reached their peak of development during the Classic period from around the 250-900 AD. They had sedentary lives and it was when they started doing/pottery and fired clay figures. The Mayans, like the Egyptians, had a very high level of intelligence, as there were many Mesoamerican cultures, perhaps from all they saw the others, learned anddeveloped their technique.
The Maya was a small hierarchical state headed by a hereditary ruler known as an ajaw Such kingdoms were usually no more than a capital city with its neighborhood and severallesser towns, although there were greater kingdoms, which controlled larger territories and extended patronage over smaller polities.
The Classic period of the Mayans, which was their moment ofglory was famous for their vast knowledge in art, astronomy, pottery and their overpowering intellect. Maya art is considered one of the most stylish and beautiful of the ancient New World. They paintedmurals and made pottery, they even had their own color called the Azul (blue) Maya, which was uniquely made by them and its still not known how to make it, the interest on this resides on the fact thatthis color has been really well preserved during all this time since they started making them until today, nowadays the technique of the azul Maya is lost.. The carvings and the reliefs made ofstucco at Palenque and the statuary of Copán are very well done, showing a grace and accurate observation, in other words, their awesome intellect. Meanwhile their architecture wasn’t too behind either,its kind of compared to Roman or Greek architecture, the most well known and recognizable pieces of their work are the pyramids, which were made for sometimes ceremonial purposes, like maybe making...
