Guatemala is a country of Central America, we have a lot of unequal distribution of wealth and a rapid grow population have given Guatemala one of the highest poverty rates in Latin America despite the highest GDP in Central America. More than 75 percent of the national population lives below the poverty line, as a result there is a very small middle class in Guatemala, and political powerrests almost exclusively with elite groups. Land just like monetary wealth, is concentrated in the hands of a few, making it very difficult for poor rural workers to improve their financial situation, as the amount of land they own or have access to is minimal. Poverty is the result of bad government that has taken our country of corrupt officials and businessmen who dont mind exploiting their farmworker and improve them.
The vulnerability and the risk of the population do the people live in poverty conditions and the oportunities that each person can build for his own life Project, the political conditions and the social enviroment, are important aspects that have to be in a strategy of reduction of poverty have to take in count. The estrategy of reduction of poverty have to become knowand avoid the retoric because need to be in the day by day of all.
Guatemala have a population of 12 million,a half of this are under 18 with approximately and the 60 percent of the population between 6 and 18 living in extreme poverty. The high level of poverty and the lack of social support programs mean child labor is the only way of survival for many families. It is thought approximately14,500 children living in the streets throughout the country with 4,500 street children located in and around Guatemala City. The poor people dont have easy access to good health care and the facilities are focused. Then with the use of pesticides, the low availability of drinking water and waste disposal services in rural areas is the reason of the high health problems other problem is themalnutrician children is extremely high, and one of the worst in the world with a 44 percent of all children under five.The poor are dependent a lot of agriculture, some 87 percent, as small scale subsistence farmers or agricultural day laborers. Non Spanish speakers also face lower incomes.
Education is not a great priority for poor Guatemalans as children are needed to work to contribute to thefamily income. Only 44 percent of school age children attend classes and only 55.6% of the total population is literate, child labor significantly inhibits the ability to go to school.

Issues facing children in Guatemala
* School retention in Guatemala is low, with only 60 per cent of students who start the first gradecompleting the sixth grade and only 39 per cent completing it at the right age.
* Scarce financial resources for household expenses and the resulting child labor are some of the main reasons why girls and boys dont move forward in their educational path and cant break the cycle of poverty in the future. Recent numbers show that 23 per cent of children and young people between the ages of 7 and 16were part of the country's labor force.
* It is well known that the high demand for children for adoption by foreign families has given rise to an adoption-related business and to situations such as kidnapping and trafficking in girls and boys. The long waiting periods and the enormous difficulties the country has experienced in enacting the Law on Adoptions show the existence of specialinterests in maintaining the status quo in this regard, which runs counter to children's best interests.
