ECOTOURISM DEVELOPMENT AT CAONI RIVER

DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM PRODUCTS AND SERVICES AND THEIR DESCRIPTION:

The place is belonged by a dancing floor, restaurant, locker and toilet. It also has a striking viewpoint that allows people to see the entire landscape of Caoni River. Among the activities to be performed are: wildlife observation, photography, spa, camping, hiking. Nowadays, thestructure of the spa tourist Caoni River is deteriorated due to the intensive use that has been given to the facilities of the place, without proper maintenance and without any control by the municipality. On holidays bathers than expected and organize dances.

Caoni’s landscape radiates tranquility and peace, the trees on the banks create a very natural place by which crosses the river with calm.The design of the cottages is in harmony with the environment.

Caoni’s River is located in Pichinchas’ northwest, in Pedro Vicente Maldonado Canton. It takes 3 hours from Quito to go there and the nearest town is Puerto Quito. Its coordinates are 00°07'20 latitude, 79°14'58 longitude.

About birds there is just possible to watch blue and white swallows (Notiochelidon cyanoleuca), parrots, and toucans.

* USES:

It is used to practice swimming and to have a good time with family and friends by making barbecues.

* TEMPORARY ACCESS:

People can go to the place during all theyear (365 days per year).

Also, it needs to have dressers, public bathrooms, and also need to relocate the people who sell any kind of products at special dates.

Another difficulty is to arrive to the place because theway is not so good especially at rainy season because it is not a paved way, in steed of that the way becomes muddy and slippery and is difficult to go to the river.

Another difficulty is that the basic structure is really bad because there is not potable water, electric energy and sewage system to make visitors feel comfortable. Additionally, there is not information about the place because...
