Types of Aircraft Engine

The aircraft engines are divided into three broad categories: alternative engines, Jet engine and rocket engines. The first are used primarily in sport aviation and smallaircraft with need for low power and low weight. Alternative engines have a too high weight for higher powers, which makes them unsuitable for large aircraft and high cruise speed. There are threebasic types of Jet engines: turbojet, the turboprop (in this group include the turboshaft, which is used in helicopter engine and does not generate practically thrust Jet, only generates traction) andturbofan, each has its advantages and disadvantages for specific cruise speeds. Engineers focused its attention on two aspects when designing a turbojet engine: the relationship between the thrust andweight, and specific consumption of fuel. Turbojet is the most popular most aircraft of high speed despite higher fuel consumption. Military combat aircraft and flying business jets aircraft usedturbojet engines. The turboprop produces two types of push, one with the propeller tractor and the other to escape. Used turboprop aircraft of very high speeds, as civil military or regional transport.Very high speed of flight cannot be achieved because at the tip of the propeller can reach the speed of air detachment. The turbofan includes a large internal impeller (fan) and two air currents thatflow through the engine. The main stream travels through all components as in a turbojet engine, i.e., passing by the Chamber of combustion, while the secondary flow generally is promoted through anejection nozzle mix later, or not, with the primary flow of exhaust. The turbofan is used by most commercial aircraft for passengers that fly at transonic speeds and reach Mach 0.8 numbers. The trendcontinued since the 1980s is increase as much as possible the derivation relationship in the turbofanes by Phanes with the largest possible diameter. To these more modern engines with bypass ratios...
