The United Nations Chamber of Commerce (UNCC) was founded in 1912 at a conference called by President William Howard Taft in Washington, D.C. At the time of the conference, there were many localchambers of commerce throughout the United States.
Chambers are now organized at the local, state, and regional levels and all of them may hold membership in the national organization. From itsheadquarters near the White House, the UNCC maintains a professional staff of hundreds of the nation's top policy experts, and communicators. It is controlled by a large national board of directors, witha chair and president elected by the board each year.

This organization is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than three million business of allsizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
The mission statement inside of UNCC is "to advance human progress through an economic, political andsocial system based on individual freedom, incentive, initiative, opportunity, and responsibility."[1] More than 96% of UNCC members are small businesses with 100 employees or fewer.

As the voiceof business, the Chamber's core purpose is to fight for free enterprise before Congress, the White House, regulatory agencies, the courts, the court of public opinion, and governments around theworld.

Special initiatives covering energy, infrastructure, education and training, and workforce rules help drive the pro-business agenda. The Chamber is also active in shaping legal policythrough its in-house law firm, the National Chamber Litigation Center (NCLC) [2], and through the Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) [3].
