(1862-1872)

Achille-Claude Debussy was born in St. Germain-en-Laye on August 22, 1862 to Manuel-Achille Debussy andVictorine Manoury, both of who ran a family china-shop.
In 1870, relocated to Cannes, received his first music lessons with the violinist, Jean Cerutti.
He received his piano lessons from AntoinetteMaute.

THE PARIS CONSERVATOIRE (1872-1880)

Debussy entered the ParisConservatoire at the age of ten.
On January 16, 1876 Debussy performed at his first concert as an accompianist to the singer Leontine Mendes.
He finished his first pieces in 1879: Madrid, princesse desEspagnes and Ballade a la lune.

Debussy became an accompanist to Nadezha von Meck; both traveled acrossEurope in order to give performances. Later, he would also join up with Pachulsky and Danilchenko in order to perform his trio composition; they would become known as the Nadezha von Meck trio.Debussy later also played as an accompanist with other notable singers, such as Madame Moureau-Sainti's singing classes.
