VERB TENSES

En inglés existen tres tiempos verbales: presente, pasado y futuro. Cada uno tiene tres formas distintas: simple, continuo y perfecto, el cual también puede ser continuo.
A continuación se presenta la formación de cada tiempo y un ejemplo que será una guía de ayuda al estudiante para formar oraciones gramaticalmente correctas.

SIMPLE TENSE
En este tiempo existen dos formas enpresente y pasado: Una para el verbo (to) be y otra para los demás verbos.

PRESENT
Verbo (to) be:
Afirmativa: Sujeto+verbo+complemento
Ej.: She is a girl.
Negativa: Sujeto+ verbo not+complementos
Ej.: She is not a woman
Isn’t
Interrogativa: Verbo+sujeto+complementos?
Ej.: Is she a baby?
Yes, she is (a baby)
No, she isn’t (a baby)
Verbos de acción:
Afirmativa:Sujeto+verbo+complemento
Ej.: Peter writes everyday.
Negativa: Sujeto+do/does not+ verbo+complementos
Ej.: Peter does not play everyday

Interrogativa: Do/Does+sujeto+verbo+complementos?
Ej.: Does Peter play every Monday?
Yes, he does/ Yes, he plays every Monday
No, he doesn’t (play every Monday)
PAST
Verbo (to) be:
Afirmativa: Sujeto+verbo+complemento
Ej.: Thomas Alva Edison was anAmerican inventor
Negativa: Sujeto+ verbo not+complementos
Ej.: He was not English

Interrogativa: Verbo+sujeto+complementos?
Ej.: Was he very intelligent ?

Ej.: Ann won three medals
Negativa: Sujeto+did not+ verbo+complementos

FUTURE
Afirmativa: Sujeto+will+verbo+complemento
Ej.: We will go toMargarita
Negativa: Sujeto+will not+ verbo+complementos
Ej.: We will not go to Mexico

Interrogativa:Will+sujeto+verbo+complementos?
Ej.: Will you go to England?
Yes, I will (go to England)
No, I won’t (go to England)

CONTINUOUS TENSE
Este tiempo verbal tiene como auxiliar el verbo (to) be que, en estos casos, significa estar.

PRESENT
Afirmativa: Sujeto+ be+verbo ing+complemento
Ej.: They are studying English
Negativa: Sujeto+ be not+ verbo ing+complementos
Ej.: They are not playing
aren’tInterrogativa: be+sujeto+verbo ing+complementos?
Ej.: Are they studying a lot?
Yes, They are (studying a lot)
No, they aren’t (studying a lot)
PAST
Afirmativa: Sujeto+ be+verbo ing+complemento
Ej.: They were playing baseball
Negativa: Sujeto+ be not+ verbo ing+complementos
Ej.: They were not playing soccer

Interrogativa: be+sujeto+verbo ing+complementos?
Ej.: Were theyplaying well?
Yes, They were (playing well)
No, they weren’t (playing well)

FUTURE
Afirmativa: Sujeto+will+ be+verbo ing+complemento
Ej.: They will be playing at ten
Negativa: Sujeto+will not+ be + verbo ing +complementos
Ej.: They will not be playing at eight

Interrogativa: will +sujeto+ be +verbo ing +complementos?
Ej.: Will they be playing at twelve?
Yes, They will(be playing at twelve)
No, they won’t (be playing at twelve)

En este tiempo verbal existe una forma que se utiliza para hablar cuando se hacen planes a futuro:

PRESENT
Afirmativa: Sujeto+ be+going to+verbo +complemento
Ej.: They are going to study in France
Negativa: Sujeto+ be not+ going to+verbo +complementos
Ej.: They are not going to study in Spain

Interrogativa:be+sujeto+ going to+verbo +complementos?
Ej.: Are they going to study a lot?
Yes, They are (going to study a lot)
No, they aren’t (going to study a lot)

PAST
Afirmativa: Sujeto+ be+going to+ verbo+complemento
Ej.: They were going to watch a movie

Negativa: Sujeto+ be not+ going to+verbo+complementos
Ej.: They were not going to watch TV
