Marco Antonio Campos Contreras, better known by his stage name Chip (September 9, 1919, February 19, 1996) was a comedian, singer, musician and broadcaster. He began his artistic life as partof some trios such as The Poker Harmony Trio Latino, LosRomanceros, Chip and Chamula and joining Henaine Capulina Gaspar, in the year1952. Together they made 26 films.
early years
Born in Tepito in MexicoCity on September 9, 1919. Eldest son of Luis RobertoCampos, military, and captain of artillery in the Mexican Revolution, and Sara Contreras, a "Adelita". Mercedes Alvarez, the maternal grandmother ofMark Antony, was the one who encouraged him in his first artistic, teaching him to play the piano.
Capulina and his years of fame

One afternoon in 1951, while eating in the cafeteria of XEW,Marco Antonio Camposwas approached by Gaspar Henaine, Mexican actor and comedian, known by his stage name "Capulina". Henaine had conflicts with peers of the trio "The Lashings" who had abandoned him inNew York, USA. "Capulina" asked Campos ("Chip") to participatewith him in the program and Comic Songs. In the first instance, "Chip" refused, becausehe also had a conflict with his teammateJose Dominguez Flores ("Chamula"), a product of alcoholism of the latter. Additionally, "was tired of being his sidekick."However, at the insistence of "Capulina" Fields accepted the offer.
They started together inthe program Capulina and Don Chip, on the radio. Thanks to the success of the program, the duo comes on TV, and renamed the duo "Chip andCapulina" and then joined the program and Comic Songs. Thesuccess of this program,catapulted to Mexican cinema. His first films were the Shadow as a couple of others and sucked is the Witch, both of 1957. As a duo, they filmed 25 movies.
