Volunteer

I was and am a volunteer of the School John F. Kennedy in Santa Isabel, where it serves as a tutor for underprivileged children, in the subject of math.

My experience was excellent, for my bachelor's fourth grade teacher and this experience helps me to know more about this profession that I am about to begin.

The work of the nonprofit institutions is essential for the welfare of the people of Puerto Rico. In order to reward and encourage these organizations to make a more significant management Angel Ramos Foundation Award instituted by Tina Hills CommunityService.

As of September 9 and November 30 to the nonprofit organizations are invited to submit your application to be considered for the award Tina Hills. The prize of $ 150,000 is the most prestigious award bestowed in Puerto Rico and honors Ms. Tina Hills for a life dedicated to the welfare of Puerto Rico. Also, be granted for 3 entities finalists win $ 15,000 to each.

The Esq. RafaelCortes Dapena, president of the Angel Ramos Foundation, said, "Tina Hills Award highlights the extraordinary work carried out by the winning organization for the good of Puerto Rico. Stimulates also other organizations to follow the example of the entity winner. It is also important to emphasize that the prize encourages the philanthropic spirit of many people who donate their services to work asvolunteers. "

Established in 1997, last year the prize was won by Tina Hills Community Research Initiative. This award was given to the following entities: The Fondita of Jesus, John Dominic in Action, Children's Choir of San Juan, ESPIBI Centre, The Jane Stern Dorado Community Library, the Puerto Rican Foundation Down syndrome, the Community Education Program Delivery and Service (FISH),Children's House Manuel Fernández Juncos, San Gabriel College, the Community Development Foundation (FUNDESCO) CREARTE, Homes Teresa Toda, the College of Special Education and Rehabilitative Integral (CODERI) and Polytechnic Amigó.

An Advisory Board evaluates applicants of the award regardless of the Board of Directors of the Foundation. The CPA Agnes B. Suarez, chairman of the Board consists of Dr.Nelson I. Columbus Ms Ana Rita Suarez de Santaella, Mr. Samuel González, Dr. Carmen T. Ruiz de Fischler, Mr. José Miguel Silverman and Dr. Francisco J. Carreras.

The entity winner is chosen by the Board of Directors of the Foundation, based on the recommendations of the Advisory Board and Development Committee of the Board. The winning organization must meet five key criteria: creativity intheir work, leadership, institutional impact, beneficiary participation and contribution to quality of life.
