In the short story, "Preparations" by Keneth Berhard, the naked motif helps us understand that we should just be happy and live our lifes without thinking whatever might occur, byusing the words or phrases "Not pretty", "Overweight" or like having "small things" in our body, things that people might judge or dislike.
For example, the speaker asked "yet what good citizen, yourself included, would hesitate to smile at the man or woman who ran naked through the street?"(129). Who will? i know i would look at someone running naked through the street; weirdly, because itssomething we don't expect to see, but im sure that "naked person" is only thinking about where he's going or whose life is he going to save. nothing goes through his/her head but to get to the person thatneeds him/her.
Another thing he mentions is "would you rush naked to my dying side?"(129). i think that at the momment that you get the news, the first thing we do is cry, unless we know we can savesomeones life, if that was the situation, i think that the first thing we will do is run to that person, our mind goes blank, i dont kno why but i think that everythime we are in a rush everythingcomes out wrong, because we cant think straight so we just forget even that we're naked and run to "save" that someones life. Berhard also talks about "The people there (some were females) they musthave been shocked perhaps more so at her nakedness than Fred's death." (131), and also..."Did anyone think to cover her, and if so, did she think how ridiculous, he is dying!" (131). when someone isdying i don't think they even think about how people look, or what do they say, i think that when someone is dying they only think about how the ones they love feel, or what's going to happen to them...
