Yasuni is an Ecuadorian national park and ecological reserve that it’s located in the Amazon Region, in the provinces of Pastaza, Orellana and the Napo River. Itis the most biologically diverse region of the world, with more species of plants and animals than in Canada in per hectare. It covers about 982 000 hectares of the Amazon rainforest. The Parkincludes major rivers such as: Napo, Tiputini, Nashiño, and several tributaries of Cononaco Curaray. There are more than 500 species of birds, more than 180 mammals, more than 100 amphibians, a lot of freshwater fishes and big predators such as jaguars and pumas, also there are pink dolphins, tapirs, tigrillos, and giant otters. There is more than 2113 species of flora, and some are chontaduro,ungurahua, palmito, pambil and chambira. Mostly you find mosses, ferns, orchids and bromeliads among fungi, vines and lichens. The area has a lot of climbing plants and vines. The representative flora ischonta, chambira, chontilla, cedro, laurel, palmito, platanillo, pambil, ungurahua, balsa, tagua, caoba, uña de gato, sangre de gallina y de drago. Also in Yasuni are human groups that maintain theirculture such as the Tagaeri and Taromenane.
The objective of this national park and ecological reserve, mostly like others, is to protect the biodiversity, but in this place, especially by preventingthe oil exploitation which involves in the process, the deforestation of an area, that kills the life there, and the exploitation of the petroleum, that can spill, making the environment different anddecreasing the biodiversity. Also in this reserve the endangered animals are cared to don’t extinct.
Monocrops is the term used when the same species of vegetation are cultivated in an extended areaof land. It is good financially because it produces a lot of the same plant, but for the environment is terrible, because it damage the soil, making it unfertile and causing erosion; also plagues...
