PREFACE
English is the universal language of communication used in aviation.
Developments in the fields of science and technology alone demand new
terminology. Advances in such fields often have global implications, the
technical terms that arise from them assume world wide circulation,
passing with modification, into many languages in a very short time.
In thisdictionary are 20,000 terms including an enlarged list of
abbreviations for our friends in the Spanish and English speaking worlds
to help standarize the aeronautical language.
We hope that this dictionary will be highly useful. It is our contribution
to the international field of aviation. It was conceived and written in Peru,

Federal Aviation Adminstration. Certificación A&P indica que el
mecánico está calificado para ejecutar mantenimiento e inspección
en aviones y motores con sus respectivos accesorios bajo la licencia
de los Estados Unidos.

abandoned the aircraft. Abandonar el avión; evacuar la aeronave.
abate. Reducir el temple; calmarse
abatement of radio-interference. Supresión de radiointerferencias.
abbreviated IFR flight plans. Planes abreviados de vuelo IFR (Reglas de
Vuelo por Instrumentos).
abbreviated visual approach slope indicador (AVASI). Indicador visual
de pendiente de aproximaciónsimplificado.
abcoulomb. Abculombio; es equivalente a 10 amperios culombios en el
sistema absoluto metro-kilogramo-segundo-amperio. La abreviación
para abculombio es aC.
abeam. A la cuadra; al través; por el través; al lado. Ángulos rectos relativos
al eje longitudinal de un avion, cuando la estación esta a la derecha o
izquierda con relación al curso de la aeronave.
abeam the threshold. Altravés del umbral.
aberration of sphericity. Aberración esférica.
ability. Capacidad; idoneidad.
abfarad. Abfaradio.
abhenry. Abhenrio; es una unidad básica de inductancia eléctrica.
abmho. Abmho (10 9 mhos); unidad de conducción eléctrica del sistema
electromagnético. Centímetro, gramo, segundo.
abney level. Nivel Abney.
abnormal conditions. Condiciones anormales.
abnormal spin. Barrera anormal.aboard. A bordo; abordar; embarcarse.
abohm. Abohmio (10 ohmios).
abort. Abortar: cambiar el curso de una acción; cancelar un despegue ya
iniciado.
abort a landing. Abortar un aterrizaje; interrumpir un aterrizaje.
