For Mexico and Latin America it is very important achieve the goals set forthe holding of the Conference, and these are: Promote spaces for open discussions where Government authorities can commit to adopting the focus of Safe Communities locally, regionally, and nacionally,based on the recognition of their benefits and impact on improving safety as a whole.
Create a forum for debate and reflection that includes academics, research, and local experiences ofparticipation that may be useful for drafting public policies directed at prevention.
Encourage interaction between different national and international players involved in the consolidation of SafeCommunities favouring joint and coordinated efforts.
