⇒ CLIMB: We will resume our weekly Bible study on Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. at the home of Brian and Tammy Williams.Bring Bibles, snacks, and friends. ⇒ Fruit Baskets: All girls in grades 7-12 are encouraged to join the shepherds’ wives on Sunday, October 10, from 1-2 p.m. in the loft to make fruit baskets for our widows and shut-ins. ⇒ Area-wide Devotional: The next devo is planned for Sunday, October 10, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Cabot church. Transportation will be provided; we will depart from Cloverdaleat 6 p.m. ⇒ River City Ministry: Our next trip to RCM will be on Sunday, October 17, from noon-4 p.m. We are collecting socks to give away. Please put your donations in the barrel by the Board.

When I was a much younger man, I would always drive my car to the point of fuel exhaustion. Many times I would pull up to the gas pump on fumes. Once the car actually died as I tapped the brakes to stop at the fuelpump. It was a sense of pride, a game…a man-thing, I guess. That all changed, though, when, on a bitter cold night on the prairie of eastern New Mexico, I ran out of gas. I had to leave my young wife and infant daughter sitting with no heat and run over two miles to a gas station in a freezing wind. Often we do the same thing spiritually and emotionally.
