50 Cent

“Many Men”

Curtis James Jackson was shot 9 times by Darryl "Hommo" Baum the 24th of May 2000, in front of his grandmother’s house at Queens, New York. He got shot in his arms, legs, chest and face. After this terrible and violent assault he had,Curtis (50 Cent) managed to live and to be perfectly cured after five months of intensive care and rehabilitation. He had a rough life but nothing stopped him from writing songs about the truth and the story he had. I choose this song of him, because it talks about the incident he had and it shows how strong he is after all that happened in his whole life. I also relate his personality with theunit “Getting to know you” seen in class before.

Curtis James Jackson

Childhood:

Best known as 50 Cent, Curtis was born in the south Jamaica of Queens, New York city in July 6th in 1975.Curtis was raised here only by his mother, Sabrina, that gave birth to him when she was only fifteen years old. He had a hard and tough childhood; he started to sell drugs at the age oftwelve. He stated that his mother was also a drug dealer and a consumer. In 1983, she became unconscious after having consumed a drugged drink and eventually died as a result of the gas in her apartment with the windows closed. Following her death, Curtis moved into his grandparents' house with his eight aunts and uncles.
At age eleven, Jackson started boxing. The following year, Jackson startedworking with narcotics but told his grandparents he attended school programs. His life wasn’t getting any better until now. During this time, he began bringing guns and drug money to school. In the mid 1980`s Curtis competed in the Junior Olympics as an amateur boxer.
At the age of sixteen, metal detectors at Andrew Jackson High School caught him. He later explained that he was embarrassed by thisarrest and confessed to his grandmother that he was selling drugs. Afterwards, Curtis was sent to a correctional. After he was released, he adopted the name "50 Cent" as a metaphor for "change".
Early Career:
Curtis started rapping in a friend’s basement when he was 21 years old. He recorded his songs over instrumentals and he was introduced to some rappers of the zone. Curtis was beginning hislife as a musician, but he didn’t knew it yet. Jam Master Jay, an important producer, liked him and he started to teach him how to read and write the structures of music (count bars, write choruses, structure songs and creating a record).many men, wish death upon me
