Topic 13 Exceptional people
Introduction
“Fathers” are not always good people. A certain pending holiday has me thinking somewhat philosophically about what it means to be a dad. In many ways it is just a title. Father’s are (forgive me) born every day. Their level of activity, good or bad, in their children’s lives has nothing to do with that title. They arefathers whether they want to be or not.

Being a father does not make you a good person. At least, not by itself. There’s a wide gap between being a father and being a good father. Because of this gap, I have to think thatbeing a good father and being a good person are intimately connected. I can tell my son all kinds of things about how the world works, and even love him to the best of my ability. But without working on myself , without getting the junk of my past, my bad habits, my anger in check – he’s going to see through me.
