ADVERBS
As you may know, adverbs can modify verbs but also adjectives, other adverbs a phrase or a clause (oración).
Have a look at the following sentences:
* The spectacularly gifted boy runsquickly. (El niño espectacularmente talentoso corre rápidamente). Here the adverb spectacularly modifies the adjective gifted.

* The spectacularly gifted boy runs veryquickly.(El niñoespectacularmente talentoso corre muy rápidamente). Theadverbverymodifiestheotheradverbquickly.

* Unfortunately for his competitors, the spectacularly gifted boy runs very quickly.(Desafortunadamente parasus competidores, el niño espectacularmente talentoso corre muy rápidamente). Here the adverb unfortunately modifies the entire sentence.
How do I know an adverb when I see one?
The mayority ofadverbs, especially those adverbs of manner consist of an adjective +-ly, for example:
Quick +-ly quickly easy – y +ily easily
Tragic +ally tragically terrible– e +ly terriblyAutomatic +ally automatically true – e +ly truly

However there are many irregular adverbs. For example FAST has the same form as an adjective as an adverb. You could say: He isfast(adjective)and He runs fast.(adverb)
Furthermore, adverbs can occupy many different positions in a sentence.
To help us understand these different positions is helpful to divide the adverbs into 5different categories:
1. Adverbs of time such as: already, still, yet, tomorrow, soon, today….
They normally respond to questions with WHEN. They normally go at the beginning or at the end of thesentence:
Tomorrow I´m leaving work early = Tomorrow I´m leaving work early.

Some exceptions are YET which comes at the end of the sentence and STILL that comes before the verb and after the subjectand also, after the verb to be:
I am still at work.
I still have too much work to do this morning.
My daughter is not seven years yet.
