Aconcagua Expedition
Location: Argentina, Central Andes. http://www.andesmountain.cl/argentinamontana/aconcagua_ing.html
Aconcagua is located in the heart of the Argentine-Chilean Central Andes, at6,960 mts., is the highest mountain in the world outside Himalayas. The name Aconcagua comes from the Quechua word and it means "Stone Sentry". This mountain was first explored by the Incas, wherethey used to celebrate their rites in the Andean summits. Here we will find the challenge of dealing with high altitudes and low temperatures.
Departures: We organize trips based on fixed departuresor custom trips groups.
We will have a formidable view of the Central Andes. We will climb in traditional expedition style using multiple camps enroute, allowing adequate time to acclimatize to thelow oxygen and assuring enough time to wait out stormy weather, to get everybody on summit.
Participants must be in excellent physical condition, able to carry a heavy pack, and adequatemountaineering equipment.
EXPEDITIONS ROUTES:
We approach by three different routes:
1) Plaza de Mulas Base Camp (Normal Route)
2) Plaza Argentina Base Camp (Polish Glacier-traverse), with colorfulspectacular high desert scenery, where the muleteers, or arrieros, will transport our gear to our Base Camp.
3) You might also be interested in our expedition called "two summits" El Plomo and Aconcagua. ForThose climbers that travel not only to climb a single mountain and need more days for get a better acclimatization. This mountain trip starts with an acclimatization stage in El Plomo (17,815ft. -5.430m.), a great mountain located in the Andes next to Santiago, Chile, and ends up with a expedition through normal route on Aconcagua.
4 Recommendations:
1. Go slowly for the first 30 minutesof the tour in order to allow the body to warm up slowly.
2. Rest and eat and drink if possible every 2 -3 hours. You should eat a little and drink plenty, even if you are not hungry or thirsty....
