Across The Universe

Across The Universe is a fictional love story set in the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, the struggle for free speech and civil rights, mind exploration and rock and roll. Writtenand directed by the famous Broadway director Julie Taymor, the film is a combination of live action and animation and is also paired with 32 songs by The Beatles that defined the time, of course thissong are covers made in live by the actors the reason by making them in live it´s because of Julie, who as a director from Broadway she’s not a huge fan of autotune.
The main characters are enough,so several plots develop at the same time. To begin we have Jude's story interpreted by Jim Sturgess, the second one that we can see is Lucy’s played by Evan Rachel Wood, also the one from his brotherMax, who is Joe Anderson, Prudence's plot by T.V.Carpio and Sadie's plots inspired in Janis Joplin and interpreted by Dana Fuchs and Jojo inspired by the guitarist Jimi Hendrix and interpreted byMartin Luther McCoy. Many of these prominent figures get his name for the songs of the Beatles interpreted in the actors, for example: Lucy in the sky with diamonds, Dear prudence, or Sexy Sadie. Anyother actors which you can recognize during the film are Bono, Salma Hayek and Joe Cocker.
The film starts with Jude leaving England to find a father who left him and his mother during WW2. He sets offto Princeton with aspirations that his father is a scholar, only to find his father is a janitor, a working class stiff like himself.While at Princeton he runs into with the campus' clown, Max who isgoing to become Jude's best friend. After a whole night having fun at the expense of the college hospitality, Max decides to take Jude to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with his aristocraticfamily.
