Thanksgiving History
 
Thanksgiving's origins date back to 1620 when a ship (the Mayflower) with over 100 English colonists crossed the Atlantic to settle in the New World. This group of"pilgrims" strong religious convictions, opposed to the beliefs of the Anglican Church and in the end had to undertake the crossing of the ocean to escape the gallows. Pilgrims (pilgrims) settled in whatis now the modern state of Massachusetts, specifically in historic Plymouth Rock colony. His first winter in the New World American was extremely difficult.     In the following years, many of the original colonists celebrated the autumn harvest with a feast of thanks(thanksgiving). After the United States gained independence, Congress (Council) recommended an annual day of thanksgiving for the whole nation was amused. George Washington suggested the date November 26 asThanksgiving (Thanksgiving day). But it was not until 1863 when, at the end of a long and bloody civil war, Abraham Lincoln asked all Americans to celebrate the last Thursday of November as a day of...
