Adoption for Homosexual Couples
Throughout the history, society has been its own executioner, creating diffuse stereotypes, promoting the lack ofcommunication between families, and developing subjects full of uncertainty in all facets of their life. Therefore, the adoption for homosexual couples or the creation of a homoparental family is set bysociety as an anti-development phenomenon that only brings confusion and bad examples to the new raising generation. The opposition of the adoption process for this minority reflects the growth ofhomophobia, defined by a range of negative attitudes and feelings toward homosexuality or people who are identified or perceived as being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (Dictionary.com, 2008).It is clear, that the lack of guidance and empathy, leads humans to make judgments without foundation. However, many studies and statistics reflect that children adopted by homosexual couples,emotional and psychologically develop just as well as those adopted by heterosexual couples.
Approximately, there are over 45 million orphans, permanently unsubstantiated, worldwide today (SOS-Children’sVillage, 2002). Nevertheless, governments prevent the adoption process for homosexual couples occur due to certain social trends that suggest that a child raised under such conditions fails to developproperly. Governments prefer the death of thousands of orphans, before losing favoritism of certain religious or social majorities that favor the enrichment of their economic power. When homosexualcouples decide to adopt a child, it is because they can provide love and protection to a defenseless creature.
