THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA
The Great Wall of China is an oldest Chinese fortification built and rebuilt between the V century. C. to protect the northern border of the Chinese empire during thesuccessive imperial dynasties of the attacks of the nomadic Xiongnu of Mongolia and Manchuria.
Counting its ramifications and secondary buildings, is estimated to be 21,196.18 miles long, from meters wide,but now only retains 30% of it. The average is 6 to 7 meters high.
The wall was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987. Much of the Great Wall is reputed to be the largest cemetery in theworld because approximately 10 million people died during the construction.
On July 7, 2007 it was announced that the Great Wall of China was selected as a winner in the list of New Seven Wonders of theModern World.
THE PYRAMIDS OF EGYPT
The pyramids of Egypt are all vestiges left by the ancient Egyptians, the most portentous and symbolic monuments of this civilization, but in particular, thethree great pyramids of Giza, the tombs or cenotaphs of the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure , are the construction dates for the vast majority of scholars, the period known as the Old Kingdom ofEgypt. The Great Pyramid of Giza, built by Cheops (Khufu), is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
The first and most famous of these is the Step Pyramid of King Zoser at Saqqara (Zoser), whosearchitect was Imhotep, because he wanted to create a monument that rises into the sky.
MACHU PICCHU
Machu Picchu is the contemporary Inca built in the mid fifteenth century in the mountains.
