Activity Questions: Aid for African Development

1. What is the economic situation in Africa?

Africa is the poorest continent of the world whichmeans that services such as education, medical attention and necessities such as water, and electricity are often not enough for all people. In many casespeople suffer by not having anything to eat or drink. As we see, in this cases, the governments are weak and do not contribute to the development of thecountry. The economy never rises as a consequence of a lack of government attention and the aids provided by foreign governments are not enough to cover allthe necessities of the people.

2. What are the causes of Africa’s economic problems?

Lack of services, lack of education and lack of governmentrepresents the major causes of the problems. These three things are basic for economic growth. If there is a “bad government” people will not invest as theyfear what can happen to their business. If there is not education, the country will not progress and population will grow as a lack of sexual education. Ifthere is no services provided by the government people will suffer (lack of water, lack of electricity, etc.)

3. Why are many Africans unable to payback their debts?

They have not yet increased the economy. They are not getting the money in order to pay back their debts because people need thatmoney and they are unable to give money to the government. People, in many cases, doesn’t have job and doesn’t contribute to the development of the country.
