Conserving water
Renewable natural resources are those that can be used over and overagain and be easily replenished in a reasonable time. Water is an example of a renewable resource that is available to us on planet earth. When properly used, thisresource can provide great benefits to human beings and all living things.
However, if water is used in excess or wasted, renewable resources may be scarce to the pointof being catastrophic to humans. If we lack fresh water or water that is safe to drink, won’t live very long. For these reasons, we have to protect this importantresource forever.
Conserving water is easy and only takes a strong willingness to do so. At home, we can reduce the amount of water we use by:
* Using the hoseonly if necessary to clear an area and not leave it open all the time or use it as a broom.
* Wash the dishes without leaving the water running all the time and donot use too much dishwashing soap.
* When brushing your teeth, or shaving, shut off the faucet.
* Check for leaky bathroom pipes and fix them fast.
*In the shower, while you soap, shut off the faucet to save water.
* When bathing use less water when filling the tub.
* Collect rainwater and use it to waterplants and wash your car.
Behavioral practices involve changing water use habits so that water is used more efficiently. While we’re waiting for new methods toconserve water, we must educate our children, families and friends, in this manner the next generation might be less concerned about protecting our drinking water.
