Introduccion

The current flu is caused by a virus A (H1N1) that there was never circulated in humans and has no relation with seasonal influenza viruses that have previously affected or are affecting humans. The virus spreads from personto person. It is transmitted as easily as normal seasonal flu and can infect others through exposure to infected droplets expelled by coughing or sneezing, which can be inhaled or contaminate hands and surfaces.

To prevent transmission, sick people should cover their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, stay home while they are ill, wash your hands regularly and keep a certain distancefrom the healthy to the extent possible.

The signs of influenza A (H1N1) are typical of flu symptoms, ie fever, cough, headache, muscle and joint pain, sore throat and runny nose, and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea. There are no known cases of persons who have been infected by exposure to pigs or other animals. Unknown place of origin of the virus.

Seasonal flu occurs every year and thevirus changes every year, but many people have some immunity to the virus circulating and that helps to limit infections. In addition, some countries use against seasonal influenza vaccines to reduce morbidity and deaths.

But the virus A (H1N1) is a new virus against which most people have little or no immunity and, therefore, this virus could cause more infections than seasonal flu. WHO isworking closely with manufacturers to accelerate the development of a safe and effective, but it will take a few months to make it available.

The new influenza A (H1N1) seems as contagious as seasonal flu is spreading rapidly especially among the young (10 to 45 years). The severity of the disease varies from very mild symptoms and a severe attack can lead to death. Most people who contract thevirus are the most mild and recovered without antiviral treatment or medical care. Among the most serious cases, more than half of inpatients suffering from any health problems or had a weakened immune system.

Seek medical attention if they suffer shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, or if the fever persists for more than three days. Parents of sick children are advised to seek medicalattention if your child has fast breathing or shortness, continuous fever or seizures.

Supportive care in the home-rest, intake of fluids and analgesics for pain, is sufficient for a recovery most of the time. (In the case of children and young adults should use analgesics than aspirin because of the risk of Reye synd

Origin of disease

In early March, the flu, which derived in many cases, breathing problems affected 60% of residents of La Gloria, Veracruz, Mexico. La Gloria is located near a pig farm that raises annually about one million of these animals. The owner of the pig farm have stated that no clinical signs or symptoms of the presence of swine influenza in animals (which are owned by the company) or its employees, and that the company routinely given the vaccine againstInfluenza to their herd, in addition to performing monthly analysis to detect the presence of swine influenza.
Mexican officials attributed this increase to a "late flu season, which usually coincides with a slight increase in B14 Influenzavirus until the day April 21, 1915 16 when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) united sounded the alarm to the media about two isolated casesof a new flu porcina.17 The first two confirmed cases were two children living in the United States (a girl of 9 years in Imperial County, and a child California 10 years in San Diego County) that sickened 28 and March 30 respectively, having had no contact with pigs or history of travel to México. The first death due to influenza A occurred on 11 April a girl who fell ill from the March 19 and...
