| |Absorption air conditioners have been trade in Venezuela in small scale for over 30 years. Currently it became an attractive | |
| |alternative for the reduction in electricity consumption in residential areas and from an ecological point of view for its low | |
| |environmental impact. Although these systems have been widelystudied, there is few experimental data. The present work is aimed| |
| |to base a long term study that propose massive use of this technology in the country. The article describes equipment and | |
| |instruments required for the assembly of a benchtest and a methodology is followed to evaluate commercial air conditioners | |
| |without dismantling them. Comparison wereundertaken between the measurements performed, data supplied by the manufacturer and | |
| |the literature with the purpose of verifying an appropriate operation. A series of conclusions have been withdrawn about | |
| |operative parameters, among others, it has been established the effect of combustible gas fluctuation in the machine perfomance | |
| |and feasibility ofnon-continuous operation. | |
